On a road trip, five friends drove at 55 miles per hour to California. On the way home, they took the same route but drove 70 miles per hour. How many miles did they drive on the way to California if the round trip took 10 hours?
1. The table is 60 inches in diameter, but she needs fabric with 4 inches more in diameter, or 64 inches. The area of a circle is pi*r^2. r in this case is 32 inches, half of 64. So
3.14*32^2 = 3215.36 in^2
2. This, you know they drove one full distance at 55 and one at 70. So x/55 + x/70 = 10 hours. or 5x / 154 = 10. x = 308
so they drove 308 miles.
