Hi everyone, Chris from Ganga here with new chilled out sounds for you good people - I've been busy again recently so it's a good thing I'm not short on fresh new down tempo beats about the place to help relax and unwind.Modern life can be frantic! It's important to have music in your life to create the right atmosphere to reinvigorate your sense of calm and well being but nonetheless I'm really excited to present a new set of compositions i've compiled and some great tracks coming out right now from some other artists you may not have heard of. It might be old news to release remixes of an old track, but nevertheless thats what we have done now, bringing whole new bunch of flavours to the Ganga feast on one of the vocal tracks from "More light please" (released 2009 on Flinc Music).
"When I close my eyes" is one of my favourite tracks from this album, and its a track that was written a few years back actually. When I was working on "Dont wake me up" - it just didnt seem to fit at that album at that time.The vocalist is Cecilie Acklon from Copenhagen, Denmark, who also contributed with her beautiful vocals on two tracks on the album "Dont wake me up" from 2007 - "Scratch" and "Strange Paradise" - both tracks co-produced with Buda from Lulu Rouge by the way.On this new EP there are remixes from a wide range of artists.
Massivan from Formentera, Spain is contributing with two very different mixes, an uptempo version and a downtempo version, then we have a progressive mix from Morten Yde, who recently remixed my track "Sweet Morning" for Black Hole Recordings, a typical track from him, sure to set some dance floors on fire while the moon is dancing. Then german reggae specialist and producer Razoof contributes with his "Razoof & Emanuels Duba Illic Mix" - beautiful Downtempo with lots of nice reggae vibes to go round. A nice sunset mix for the hammock or whereever you prefer to chill out when the sun is setting. Last but not least Haranaki provides a cool minimal mix to level thing out. Clubby but still mellow.
To top things off, there is a bonus instrumental mix that has also never been released before.Its march 15 in all major download shops.But in addition to my most recent project - I have to make some noise about this fantastic little world i've discover - hiding on it's own on the internet among 10000000000000000000 other "interesting" things, because this is really special I must say.
Its called "Weird tales for winter", and obviously as we are now approaching spring, its a bit too late to call it news but hey... its still fantastic. A collective hauntological radio series curated by Johnny Mugwamp. As part of his exotic Pylon radio show, Vanessa Daou tapped into a vein of beauty, melancholy and mysterious words and voices that are sure to inspire a thirsty soul. She calls her tale "Love among the shadowed things".

Here goes:
'love among the shadowed things' is a hybrid piece, a private excursion in sound, poetry, harmony, melody, performance, invisible cinema. much of the lyrics were composed extemporaneously on my iPhone during december of '09. in its final form i was aiming to capture the essence of the process of writing for this very project which was on the one hand spontaneous & free-form and on the other reflective and measured.
there are 4 themes i've explored for jonny's "hauntological" project: dreams, snow, shadows & night. lyrically & sonically, i touch on the overlap of sleep and waking life, coherence versus disintegration, the conflation of hope & despair, love & lust, the expression and withholding of desire. winter serves as the metaphorical, psychological & emotional backdrop. i tried to distill my impressions of winter's ephemeral essence in these poems & explore harmonies which evoke some sensed or intuited spiritual realm.
i've conceived the first poem as a kind of dream or opening, after which I/the narrator navigate my way through one particular december night and reflect on passing things: the secular and temporal, the familiar, the mystifying, universal and eternal.
the 4 poemsongs address a relationship to or search for some universal understanding, moving through various phases of insight and (dis)illusion, oscillating between belief (in something greater, not necessarily Divine) and doubt, exploring the idea of omniscience (God-like in a way), and the idea of absence up against the fact that we are here and very present in this moment -
my guiding inspiration is T.S. Eliot's 'love song of j. Alfred Prufrock', Edgar Allen Poe's 'the raven', Allen Ginsberg's 'howl' Anne Waldman's 'flame', & tom chivers' 'the terrors' for those of you who've been following the exoticpylon, you can expect further explorations into those electrically charged edges of music, sound & poetry. for those new listeners, expect only the unexpected...

What can I say other than that I highly recommend this marvel - as a perfect tool for mind travelling - A transportation form much underrated! It is SO beautiful and Vanessas voice is as we know it - like silk on a quiet beach. Happy travels!
