Getting into Seattle from Airport avoiding I-5?
Hi. I'm going to be landing in Seattle on August 25th...My understanding is that I-5 traffic is going to be a mess due to construction. Although I grew up in Seattle, it's been over a decade since I have lived there, thus the geography is a little hazy. Is there an easy way to get to 99 North from SeaTac? Or, can you suggest another route to use to get to the U-District from the Airport that will avoid I-5 traffic? I realize it's on a Saturday, thus there won't be the commuter traffic, but from what I'm reading in the Seattle Times online, it's going to be a mess. We will be driving, so don't suggest the bus...we'll have to much luggage to take on "Joe Metro."
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
You can take the 509 or 99 from the airport north and both will head north to the viaduct, but unfortunately, I'm going to wager that those will both be hellish just due to everybody having to be rerouted. You might want to try to head into Seattle via MLK or Rainier, if you head a bit east. You can take Rainier right up north to the edge of the International District (or just a bit east of the edges of it). Might have to get creative, the way they are talking about traffic being during the I-5 work...
