Gym membership fees not refunded...options?
So I moved out of state temporarily and entered into a month-to-month gym membership. According to the contract, as long as you provided proof of relocation within 30 days, the membership could be canceled. After several attempts to send them what they considered "creditable" documents to confirm my relocation to cancel my membership AND being informed I would be reimbursed for months charged since the date of relocation, they informed me they would not reimburse me for the 3 months they charged me. What options do I have? They won't give out a supervisor's name or contact information. Normally I'd just walk away but this is $160 I paid for a service I never recieved (plus the headache and postal costs of overnighting and going back and forth with these people). Anyone been in this situation? Who would I report this business to?
You should just have to go by the contract. If it says it will be canceled when relocation verification is provided, you don't have anything due you. If it states it will be canceled effective the date of the verification, that will tell you if you're due a refund. It isn't rocket science.
