Can aloe vera be used on wing?
I have a 4 year old lovebird that has been plucking one wing for 2 years & as soon as she starts getting new feathers she plucks again. I have had her to several avian vets & tried the medicine but it doesn't stop the problem. I know aloe vera is a safe plant for birds but can I use it directly from the plant on her wing?
They do sell pure aloe vera gel and i know someone who is using it on a plucker with some success. I don't see why you couldn't use it right from the plant . I would put the juice on my finger as sometimes right from the leaf you get bits of messy leaf. You can also use1 part drinkable aloe juice to 3 or 4 parts warm water as a spray . One very experienced rescuer says this should be used daily for 60 days.
